Back to School, Back to Style Classroom and Teacher Makeover Winners

Portland Classroom Makeover

Diane Newton-Prior's husband nominated her to go back to school in style to celebrate her promotion to head librarian at Sitton Elementary School. Before being the librarian, Diane spent 5 years at the school teaching life skills to developmentally challenged students. Volunteers descended upon the school to transform the library, life skills room, teacher's room and outdoor courtyard. JAG associate contest winners, Sergio Prosperino, YooHee Choe, and John Greenwood each lent their special touch to the rooms. YooHee tackled the overgrown courtyard and planted sweet smelling lavendar and other annuals. Sergio and John tackled the library with new 2-tone paint job, inspirational quote and relaxing new reading area. The life skills room was freshened up with paint and a new stainless steel refrigerator. The teacher's lounge got brand new furniture for a cozy relaxing nook along with a freshly painted buffet, new coffee makers, a new refrigerator and bins and bins of candy! While volunteers were hard at work at the schools, Diane was off to the salon and Macy's for a complete transformation including hair, make-up and a new Jones New York Signature wardrobe!
